Lot 318

Lot Description

A pair of silver plated and glass butter dishes, each base of circular form with an embossed foliate and floral scroll border and central well for holding a glass insert, the fluted and domed cover with a cow finial;  together with two additional glass dishes.  Maximum diameter of base measures 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm).

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both dishes display general wear and tarnishing all over, also general surface marks and scratches.  Some deeper scratches in places and also various minor nicks in the metal.  There are also some small surface dints to some areas and especially some more notable ones around the central well on one of the dishes.  The plating is quite worn in places, especially on the covers, so that the copper is showing through.  One of the cows is missing a horn and is quite loose in its fitting, the other now has a modern screw fitting and has a large split in the metal on the neck.  General wear to the glass dishes.
