Lot Description

George III silver teapot of oval form with domed flush hinged cover, scrolling spout, dual vacant wreath cartouche, bright cut engraved borders and fruit wood handle and finial. Hallmarked John Emes London 1800. Height measuring 6 3/4 inches (17 cm), weight 15.9 ozt (496 grams).

The teapot display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The engraving to the wreaths appears worn. The hinge appears loose allowing sideways movement. Minor repairs visible to the hinge and upper join of the handle. Cracks to the wood finial. Small chip to the thumb piece, a chip also visible towards the bottom of the handle, this join also stretched, the pin positioned to one side. The hallmarks are clear and legible, passant mark only to the lid.
