An early nineteenth century French Empire-style salt, four lions paw feet supporting a rectangular base, with two foliate and openwork frill stands for salt containers and central columnar handle of acanthus leaf and scrolling foliate design, with graduated bead surmount. French hallmarks for 1819-1838. Maker's mark QB with central fleur-de-lys mounted pansy. Length 6 1/2 inches (16.5cm). Weight 7.12 ozt (221.3 grams).

Condition Report
The lot is in fair overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There are traces of gilt remaining. The handle is slightly loose. There is significant black spot discolouration to the top of the rectangular base. The base has some large, shallow dents and a small dent to the frill. The salt containers are missing.
