Lot Description
French hot water pot and cream jug by Emile Puiforcat, each of bulbous shape with embossed foliate and husk motif detail, engraved monogram to one side, and a fruit wood harp shape handle, the hinged cover to the hot water pot with flower finial. Struck with maker's mark for Emile Puiforcat and French export mark for 950 fineness, also both impressed Cartier to the underside. Height of hot water pot including finial measures 6 1/4 inches (16 cm), combined gross weight 13.71 ozt (426.5 grams).

Condition Report
Both pieces display general wear, tarnishing and general surface marks and scratches. There are many deeper and more visible scratches and marks. The hot water pot has several knocks and dints around the lower body and one very large one. Large dint to the spout, which has caused it to nearly close. Also various knocks and dints around the base rim. Small hole/crack to the interior, where the top of the handle joins the body. Stain on the handle has nearly completely worn away. Marks slightly rubbed but still legible. Cream jug has some smaller dints to the main body and similar knocks to the foot rim. Repair to top of the handle and the stain has worn. Marks clear and legible.
