A late Victorian silver sugar basin, the oval body with engraved foliate band and angular twin handles. Hallmarked London, 1897, the maker's mark AS, possibly over struck. Maximum height 4 inches (10.2cm). Weight 8.55 ozt (265.9 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

The hallmarks are clear and legible, the makers mark appears to be A S with dots or a small u in the middle, possibly over struck. Traces of gilt interior remain. Old white label to the base.
