Lot Description

A George III silver Hanoverian Pattern soup ladle with double drop heel engraved '5=1', hallmarked London 1761, the maker's mark possibly W.C, length measuring 13 1/2 inches (34 cm). Together with a smaller George III silver Old English Pattern soup ladle, hallmarked London, marks rubbed. Gross weight 9.54 ozt (296.7 grams). (2).

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The one with the readable date letter appears slightly bent to the handle and has significant black spotting to the inside of the bowl and a small amount to the outside. Both bowls have three digit numbers in pen near the handle. The marks are slightly rubbed to the 1761 ladle, the makers mark is squashed, believed to be W.C. The other ladle's makers mark is also squashed, the hallmarks significantly worn, the outline of the lion passant and the crowned leopard head are visible.
