A selection of six George III and later silver and white metal spoons, to include an Irish silver shell-back table spoon, crested, hallmarked Daniel Popkins Dublin 1783; a provincial silver engraved table spoon, initialled, hallmarked Joseph Hicks Exeter 1822; a George III silver table spoon, initialled, hallmarked London 1782; a late nineteenth century Chinese white metal table spoon with character script down both sides of the stem and two 1930's Danish souvenir spoons. Condition Report
Gooverall condition with scratches, small dents, general wear. The Chinese spoon has two Character mark stamps and engraved script to both sides which roughly translates as good wishes to the religious figure and his wife for many years, with the details of the wisher to the reverse. The Irish spoon has wear to the edge of the bowl, the shell shows wear and there is a small fold near the top of the stem. There are two line gouges near the top of the stem. The hallmarks are slightly worn, the town and date marks are poorly struck. Engraved to the top of the back of the stem with a crest of an arm holding a dagger. The Old English spoon is engraved R, T+S, hallmarked George Smith (III), London 1782, small dents to the bowl. The old rat tail spoon is bright-cut engraved with JE initials, the back is engraved "M.P to". Hallmarked J Hay, EDINBURGH 1811. Danish spoons with marks for 1929, Christian F. Heise and 1938, Jens Sigsgaard, the enamel has minor nicks, black spotting.
