Elizabeth I silver baluster knop spoon, scratch initialled 'P.W.M'. Hallmarked London 1560, maker's mark mullet in crescent (?), see Jackson English Goldsmiths and their marks, second edition page 97 1560 - 61. Length measuring 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm), weight 1.5 ozt (47.8 grams).

Condition Report
The Elizabeth I spoon displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Evidence of gilding to the baluster knop. Line of the V-notch joint is visible with a little pitting to the reverse. The bowl has worn down on the striking edge. The hallmarks worn but legible. A label has been stuck to the inner bowl and subsequently has been wiped clean, not polished. In addition to this condition report, the images display the spoon before and after the bowl was cleaned.
