Lot Description

George III silver bun top pepper of vase form, crest and initial engraving, reeded borders and raised above a square footed base. Hallmarked John Emes London 1804. Height measuring 3 1/4 inches 1.7 ozt (54.3 grams).

The pepper displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. initial engravings to both sides of the body, one with crest, all appear rubbed. Solder visible to the join on the stem. The pepper sits slightly off centre. Gilding to the interior remains bright. The hallmarks are clear and legible, passant mark only visible to the lid.
