Lot Description
Late Victorian silver mounted purse, the cover heavily embossed all over with 'c' scroll motifs amidst flowers and foliage, with central monogrammed cartouche to the front and vacant cartouche to the reverse, opening to reveal a fitted leather interior with compartments and a metal retractable pencil (lead deficient). Silver hallmarked Deakin & Francis Ltd., Birmingham 1899. Measuring 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm) by 3 inches (7.6 cm).

Condition Report
The embossed silver cover is heavily tarnished and displays general surface wear, marks and scratches in keeping with the age and use. There is more wear and slight loss of detail to the edges and corners, also minor nicks and some small surface dints, especially to corners. The hinge and clasp are in good working order, although there is a slight gap when closed. Hallmarks are legible. There is some damage to the leather interior, one of the compartments is torn on both sides and the other compartment is torn on one of the sides. There are areas and patches of discolouration to the leather.
