Lot Description

Late Victorian silver vesta case, of oblong shape and decorated all over with trailing leaf motifs, central monogrammed cartouche to the front, hallmarked Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1893;  together with two Edwardian silver vesta cases, both decorated with scrolling foliage, hallmarked Birmingham 1901 and 1908.  Gross combined weight 2.62 ozt (81.5 grams). All three cases are quite tarnished and display general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with their age and use.  There are some deeper scratches to some areas and some minor nicks and small surface dints, especially around the edges and corners on each, where there is generally more wear.  Some slight loss of detail to decoration in places.  The smallest case displays some larger surface dints to front and reverse.  All hinges and clasps are in working order and hallmarks are legible.
