Lot Description
Late Victorian silver pair of candlesticks, each with detachable nozzle, vase shape socket and tapering column leading to a shaped square filled base, decorated throughout with trailing husk and foliate motifs and other classical patterns. Hallmarked Birmingham 1898, maker's initial probably 'C.H'. Height including nozzle measures 6 1/8 inches (15.5 cm).

Condition Report
Both candlesticks are quite tarnished all over with areas of darker spots and patches. They display general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some deeper scratches visible and also various minor nicks. More wear is visible to the edges and there are some minor dints. More dints, knocks and creases are visible around the bases of each. On one of them, there is a large split in the metal at one of the corners and one piece is folded over another. Some distortion to hallmarks but mainly legible, also part hallmarks to nozzles.
