Lot Description

A late 19th century gold sapphire and diamond snake brooch. Designed as a coiled snake, with oval sapphire cabochon head and diamond point eyes. Length 4.5cms. Weight 5.6gms.

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The clasp has been repaired. The diamonds appear moderately bright and well matched, estimated total diamond weight 0.01ct. Individual diamonds too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades, though the diamonds appear tinted. The sapphire is a medium blue hue with a surface reaching inclusion. Minor abrasions. There is wear to the gilt finish. Stamped 5074.
