Lot Description
An Art Nouveau 18ct gold opal and baroque pearl pendant. Of naturalistic design, the baroque pearl with foliate cap, suspended from an oval opal cabochon, to the tendril surround with thistle leaf detail, may be worn as a brooch. Maker's mark AN & Cie. French assay marks. Length 6.5cms. Weight 17.8gms.

Condition Report
The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The marks are struck to the clasp and the pin, the makers mark to the clasp struck over the French eagle mark. There are small areas of slight discolouration. The safety chain is a replacement. The pendant is deficient a chain. There are two loops to the reverse for the chain, both are worn. The baroque pearl has a good lustre, the majority of the leaf cap is facing the reverse. Baroque pearl untested for natural origin. The opal is in good condition with speckled play of colour to the front and larger sections of colour to the front. The opal has good play of colour with a wide range of hues, minor surface scratches and a very small cavity to the surface with small traces of matrix within the very small cavity.
