Lot Description

A late 19th century gold and silver opal and diamond crescent brooch. The replacement graduated oval opal cabochons, to the old and rose-cut diamond terminals. Estimated total diamond weight 0.35ct. Length 3.3cms. Weight 8.2gms.

Condition Report

Overall condition good. Minor surface wear in keeping with general wear. The opals are not perfectly matched. Good play-of-colour can be seen throughout most. The diamonds are bright, lively and well matched. Light nicks and chips can be seen to some. Fine feathers and fractures can be seen under magnification. The frame is late 19th century, the stones have been replaced.
