Lot Description
A pair of late 19th century enamelled opera glasses. French, in the manner of Jumelle Duchesse. Having mother-of-pearl eyepieces and brass fittings, the barrels enamelled with oval floral reserves and conforming lunette borders within 'jewelled' surrounds on a star-decorated rose pink ground, 4.1" (10.5cm) wide, together with two ivorine examples, (3).

Condition Report
1. One eyepiece is grubby, lens broken. Both barrels are sound but a few jewels appear re-stuck or replaced. Brasswork needs brightening. No case.
2 and 3. Larger pair have bone-like 'blood vessel' flecks plus some cracks and a small chip. Smaller pair are sound. Neither have cases.
