A Japanese Meiji period shibayama-decorated ivory tusk vase. Having a wavy white metal rim over relief decoration of a two-handled tripod koro issuing prunus blossom and flowers in mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell, and stained ivory, a further flowering plant to the reverse, two-character mother-of-pearl seal mark, over conforming white metal foot rim and a petal-shaped hardwood stand, 10.25", (26cm) high.

Cracks to ivory: two to rim circumference, two vertical. One piece of stained mother-of-pearl missing to koro. One internal flaw is disguised externally by one of the plants.
