Lot Description
A Victorian inlaid rosewood drop dial wall clock. Anonymous, circa 1860, having a 14" white-painted Arabic dial and trefoil hands, with unmarked chain-driven single-fusee timepiece movement, the case with brass bezel and mother of-pearl inlaid octagonal surround, the body centred by a shaped lenticle within inlaid bird and grazing stags, between carved 'ears' over curved base with door, 20" wide x 31.5" high, (51cm x 80cm).
Provenance: by repute, this clock was bequeathed to the current owner by descendents of the noted maker W. F. Evans of Handsworth.

Condition Report
Minor wear to dial. Movement intact but uncleaned.
Case - two minor splits to dial surround, slight lifting and losses to edge veneer. Crack to left side of body (beside lenticle), and repaired veneer to curved base. Replacement pegs secure dial to box, and blocks have been added/altered to rear of dial to hold box in place.
