Lot Description
A good early George III mahogany stick barometer by Dolland, London. Circa 1770-80, having a silvered scale engraved "Dolland London" in cursive script, reading from 27 to 31 inches of pressure with vernier and remarks, the architectural 'broken' pediment and urn finial over caddy-moulded trunk, exposed main tube and hemispherical cistern and brass adjusting screw, 38", (97cm) high.

Condition Report
Rubbing to silvering at top left corner of scale. General superficial scratching to scale, brass vernier arm bent, one screw missing to main tube retention strap. Timber has been sympathetically repolished some years ago.
Tube mercury responds when brass screw to base is turned so is assumed functional but not guaranteed.
