A George II inlaid walnut bureau. Circa 1750, having a crossbanded and feather-banded sloping fall enclosing a finely fitted interior with valance-topped pigeonholes and a stepped arrangement of concave drawers with conforming inlay, flanking a breakfront central cupboard enclosing a drawer, with secret pediment drawer and canted stop-fluted book pilasters, the front having two short and three long graduated long inlaid drawers on ogee bracket feet, 37" x 21" x 41.75" high, (94cm x 53cm x 106cm).

Condition Report
Slight blistering to inlay of top. Superficial scratching to fall. Veneer is in six vertical strips. Escutcheon is missing. Dints to left edge of fall where have pressed against top of loper moulding. Front moulding to right loper is missing, handle present. Two long drawer escutcheons missing. Pierced backplate handles are probably an old replacement, but has never had central drop handles. Slightly reddish colour. Sides are very plain (no inlay) and sun-faded with some splitting and slight blistering. Ogee feet could be a slightly later addition as more likely to have had straight brackets.
