Lot 119

Lot Description

1920's silver pair of dwarf candlesticks, each socket of plain cylindrical form and leading to a spreading circular base (filled).  Hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1925.  Height measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both candlesticks display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some minor surface nicks and dints are visible to both.  One of the candlesticks has some quite deep creases in the metal around the stem, and a couple of cracks are starting to appear.  There are also a couple of knocks to the foot rim.  The maker's marks are partly worn and the hallmarks appear a little rubbed but all still legible.
