Lot Description

George II silver cream jug of pear form, shaped rim, leaf capped scroll handle, the body with floral embossing on a stippled background, surrounding the asymmetrical cartouche with squirrel crest and raised above three shell feet, hallmarked London 1734, part hallmarks only visible, height measuring 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm). Together with a Georgian silver sauce boat, crested and initial engraving, hallmarks erased. Gross weight 9.5 ozt (297 grams). (2).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Construction line visible to the narrow of the neck of the cream jug, dent also to the cartouche, repair visible to the underside, part hallmarks only visible as the Leopards head and date letter, these appear rubbed, part of the decoration may not be contemporary. The sauce boat displays a number of repairs to the lip, heavy solder repair to the feet, the feet have also been pushed into the body, crest very worn, the hallmarks are almost completely erased, Leopards head and passant part legible.
