A large Victorian copper and silver plated electrotype shield of circular form, depicting a fierce battle below a walled city, within a border of fruits and putti interspaced with classical masks. Unmarked. Diameter measuring 24 3/4 inches (63 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and heavy tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Significant loss to the silver plating. Numerous dints and bumps, particularly to the edge. A little loss of definition. Hanging plate has been added to the reverse.
