An early Victorian silver christening mug, the body of campana form, with acanthus capped scrolling handle, the body embossed with alternating foliate motif and acanthus leaf frieze, leading to a pedestal foot conforming in design, personal inscription and initial engraving to the body. Hallmarked Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard London 1838. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm), weight 4.4 ozt (139 grams).

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
Split to the foot. Knock to the base and therefore wobbles on a flat surface. Some heavier scratches. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible. Personal inscription reads 'Mary Katherine Ayres 9th December 1911'.
