Lot 328

Lot Description

A small continental stoup, the shaped back plate with a central religious group modelled as a woman and two children, within an outer border of floral, scroll and foliate motifs, the small basin of lobed oval outline with foliate detail to the front.  Struck marks to the underside comprising a capital N below a crown alongside a dagger motif and one further mark.  Maximum height measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), weight 119.8 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The stoup displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible and it would benefit from a clean and polish.  Some deeper scratches and various minor nicks and edge nicks/chips.  One of the holes in the decoration appears slightly larger on one side, therefore there is some possible damage in this area as a small piece of metal may have broken off.
