Lot Description

Edwardian silver tea caddy of plain oval form, engraved monogram and date to the front within a garland of trailing floral and foliate motifs, the curved hinged cover with a lobed finial. Hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1907.  Height including finial measures 4 3/8 inches (11 cm), weight 5.68 ozt (176.6 grams).

Total lot weight: No

The caddy displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and light tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Numerous deeper scratches, nicks and contact marks are visible to some areas.  There are also a couple of small surface dints visible, especially around the base rim.  Loss of detail to the engraved decoration and date.  Hinged cover in good working order.  The maker's mark appears a little rubbed but still legible, the other hallmarks are clear and legible.
