Lot Description

An oriental box and cover of circular form, embossed with a continuous band of trailing flowers and leaves, the detachable cover with conforming decoration and an ovoid shape finial.  Struck with two marks to the underside, 'HW' or 'MH' in an oblong punch, alongside a further character mark.  Diameter measures 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm), weight 188.2 grams.

The box displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Heavier tarnishing to some areas.  Various deeper scratches, nicks and contact marks, and some edge and rim knocks.  Remnants of tape to interior.  The marks to the underside are a little rubbed but still legible.
