Lot Description

Twentieth century silver canteen for twelve place settings, with a ribbon and reed style border to handles and foliate motifs to each shaped terminal, comprising twelve each of table knives and forks, dessert knives, forks and spoons, fish knives and forks, soup spoons and teaspoons, also including two soup ladles and five table spoons.  Hallmarked Roberts & Belk Ltd., Sheffield 1962.  Approximate weighable silver 148.43 ozt (4617 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The pieces in the canteen are in varied condition, however all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the use.  Deeper scratches and nicks to some areas.  There is some slightly heavier tarnishing to some areas, such as the tips of the fork prongs and the blades of the fish knives.  The spoon bowls appear to have faired quite well, as do the the fork prongs, although there is more wear towards the tips.  There is some wear to the tips of the fish knife blades, as they have lost some of their sharpness.  The hallmarks are mainly clear and legible.
