Lot Description

Late Victorian silver sweetmeat dish of oval form, with single swing handle pierced with circle motifs, the main dish with decorative pierced panels within beaded scroll borders, the whole raised above a spreading oval foot.  Hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1894.  Maximum length measures 6 1/8 inches (15.5 cm), weight 4.5 ozt (140.2 grams).

The dish displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and light tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Deeper scratches to some areas, especially some visible to the plain centre of the dish, and various minor nicks and pitting marks in the metal.  The single swing handle is in good working order.  Some minor surface dints and a larger knock/dint to one end of the foot rim, so that it is slightly upturned.  The hallmarks are clear and legible.
