Lot Description

George IV silver pair of Fiddle pattern condiment spoons with initialled terminals, hallmarked Jonathan Hayne, London 1822;  together with two further Georgian condiment spoons and a Victorian example, a silver butter knife, hallmarked Sheffield 1935, a pair of decorative sugar nips, struck with maker's mark and lion passant only, and a silver tea strainer dish with Edward VIII crown thumb piece, hallmarked London 1936.  Total silver weight 5.12 ozt (159.3 grams) (8).

Items are in varied condition, however all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  On the salt spoons, there are elastic band marks to some stems and loss of detail to engraved initials.  The spoon bowls have generally retained their shape, however they are more worn around the edges and there are some small dints visible.  The metal of one of the salt spoon appears alot thinner all over.  There is some notable damage to the strainer, as there appears to be a piece broken off, on the opposite side to the thumb piece.  Some rubbing but hallmarks on all pieces are mainly legible.
