Lot Description

Victorian silver small basket of oval form with reeded border detail, engraved crested shield to one side and vacant shield to the other, the single swing handle also with reeded decoration.  Hallmarked Sheffield 1882, maker's mark J.H & Co.  Maximum length measures 5 inches (12.7 cm), weight 4.16 ozt (129.4 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The dish displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Many deeper scratches visible and various nicks in the metal.  There are also some slight surface dints.  Loss of detail to the engraved decoration.  Swing handle in good working order.  The hallmarks on the underside appear rubbed in places but still legible, however the maker's mark is partly distorted and illegible.  Part hallmarks including maker's mark to swing handle are clearer.
