Lot Description

A large Victorian silver tray of oval form, the main body engraved with a central Gothic style scrolling intertwining foliage, surmounting an engraved crest with the motto 'Fortiter In Re Suaviter In Modo', further Greek key border, vertical pierced gallery, beaded rim and acanthus leaf mounted and beaded twin handles. Hallmarked Martin, Hall & Co Sheffield 1859. Width including handles 24 inches (61 cm), weight 110 ozt (3443 grams).

In very good overall condition. The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Small dint to the underside and a small area of discolouration to the main body.
