A lava cameo brooch. Of oval-shape outline, the lava cameo carved to depict two dancing maidens holding a wreath in high relief, within a black enamel and scroll surround. Length 5.4cms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good. There are slight scratches to the surround, in keeping with overall wear. The surround appears to be possibly late 19th century and has been heavily restored, re enamelled, with the overlaid scrolls added at a later date. There is visible glue residue to the outer surround of the cameo from where it has been secured, replaced. There is some minor wear to the lava in places. The back pin and catch is secure.
