Lot Description

An early 20th century gold split pearl spider and fly bar brooch. The split pearl spider, with circular red-gem cabochon eyes, suspending three staggered split pearl flies. Length 4cms. Weight 7.2gms.

Overall condition good. There are scratches to the brooch in keeping with the age of the piece, the gilding to the piece has worn in places, with the rose colour showing through beneath. There is some abrasion to the red-gem eyes visible with magnification. The split pearls are in good condition and well matched, several if not all have probably been replaced. The pin and catch is secure. Some settings may need to ne secured.
