Lot Description

A late 19th century continental gold garnet necklace. Designed as an oval garnet cabochon, suspended from an oval-shape garnet surmount with foliate swag, to the similarly designed garnet sides and connecting trace-link chain. Length 38cms. Weight 9.9gms.

The lot is in fair overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The clasp is a base metal replacement. The garnets may be replacements. The mounts and surmounts appear to have been components of other items of jewellery. The garnets are well matched with brownish and purplish red hues, minor abrasions.
