Sudan, Boer & Great War Medal group to Private Yeoman of the Seaforth Highlanders. Comprising Queen's Sudan Medal (renamed), Khedive's Sudan Medal 1896-1908 with Khartoum bar, Queens South Africa Medal 1899-1902 with five bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (possibly renamed), India General Service Medal with North West Frontier 1908 Bar, all to 5987 Pte F. Yeoman Seaforth Highlanders. Further Great War pair, British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal, both named to '2560 Pte F. R. Yeoman. Frederick Richard Yeoman, Private, was born in the parish of St. Mildred’s, Canterbury, in December 1880. Yeoman enlisted at the age of 18 with the Seaforth Higlanders, Ross-shire Buffs, the Duke of Albany’s Company. Yeoman served for 14 years abroad in Egypt, at the Battle of Omdurman, South Africa, in the service of Cape Colony, Orange Free State and the Transvaal, and with the Zakha Khel and Mohammed Expedition in India. Yeoman was discharged in 1912 and joined the Prison Service. In 1914 he reenlisted with the Seaforth Highlanders until it is believed he was severely wounded, being awarded two further medals and a mention in dispatches.
