Lot Description
A good quality Japanese Meiji period Satsuma pot and cover. Signed Kizan, having a small cover with gilt ball finial over an ovoid body finely decorated with polychrome lappets, two greek key-edge panels, decorated the one side with a river scene and figures in punts, to the other with a pentafoil panel of a cockerel, each with speckled gilt sky in the manner of the Kinkozan workshop, the ground densely packed with chrysanthemums and a broad diagonal band of hexagonal cellular diaperwork, all within gilt scroll-enriched black borders, gilt 'seal' mark "Kizan" to base, 3.75", (9.5cm) high.
