Lot Description

A late Victorian mahogany-cased games compendium. The hinged rectangular box enclosing 'The Grand Race Game' four-fold board, plus a draughts board, over a compartmentalised interior with draughts/checkers and chess pieces (both half boxwood and half lignum vitae), cribbage board, bone spillikins, pressed wooden dominoes, painted lead horses and jockeys, boxwood dice shaker, and plastic tiddlywinks, the box 12.5" x 7.5" x 3" (closed), (32cm x 19cm x 7.5cm), (minor losses).

Missing: one of each draught type, one domino. Two of the horses are associated. Boards have been well used and are playworn. General wear commensurate with age and use. Box is very plain, has rubbing/scuffing to lid and some damage to lower corner.
