A Wempe mahogany-cased marine chronometer. Having a 4-inch silvered dial with subsidiary 56-hour state of wind dial, over seconds dial numbered 8725, named "CHRONOMETERWERKE WEMPE HAMBURG", the three-pillar chain-fusee movement with helical spring balance, bimetallic wheel having four circular weights, and Earnshaw-type detent escapement, with screw-on glazed bezel in gimballed surround and original two-handled deck box with numbered plaque, 7.25", (18.5cm) width, depth and height, sold with key.
