A fine early Victorian coromandel-cased repeating twin-fusee carriage or mantel clock.
Attributed to John Blundell, London, circa 1840.
Having a 3.5-inch white-enamelled Roman chapter ring with outer minute track and filled Breguet hands, a pierced foliate scroll-engraved centre with engine-turned border and vacant retailer's cartouche, within conforming borders, the chain-driven twin-fusee movement with compensated lever platform escapement, striking on a coiled tubular gong, the finely figured case with bevelled roof glazing and leaf-capped hexagonally-facatted lacquered brass bale handle to the stepped pediment, the foliage-engraved gilt door slip between bevelled glazed sides (one with push-repeat button) over a bombe frieze, plinth and brass bun feet, 9.75", (24.5cm) high to base of handle hilt, sold with winder.
