A late 19th century gold opal and diamond ring, circa 1890. The cushion-shape opal cabochon, within a rose, single and old-cut diamond openwork scroll surround, to the later replacement band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.30ct. Weight 4.2gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good to fair. Some surface wear in keeping with age. The band is a later replacement. Evidence of repair and some soft solder visible to the setting/gallery. One old-cut diamond is loose within the setting. Opal has a creamy background colour with play-of-colour from red through to violet. Fairly even play-of-colour. Opal in fair condition with scratches and surface abrasion. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue for coloured gemstones. Diamonds bright and well matched. Individual size prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Minor inclusions visible under 10x magnification. Diamonds in good condition with minor abrasion and nibbles. Ring size P1/2. Setting tests as 18ct gold, replacement band tests as 9ct gold.
