'G. Minter, 65 Gerrard Street, Soho, WR Patent No. 1916'
The deep-buttoned sage green plush back over scroll arms and moulded seat with extending footrest, one leg stamped as above,.
Literature: Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, London, 1986, p.612, where George Minter is listed at this address from 1835 to 1850. He traded as patentee of the 'self-acting chair' from 1839.
