Lot 185

Lot Description

Two modern silver christening mugs, each of cylindrical outline with flared rim, scroll handle and raised above a stepped, spreading base, one with applied girdle detail to the lower body, the other example with plain body. Both hallmarked Turner & Simpson, Birmingham 1964 and 1965.  Height measures 2 7/8 inches (7.2 cm), weight 7.6 ozt (236 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both mugs display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible to both and they would benefit from a clean and polish.  Numerous deeper scratches and nicks are visible, also some surface dints and bumps.  On the mug with the girdle decoration, there is a larger knock to the foot rim and also some more notable knocks to the main rim.  Also a couple of small solder repairs.  Hallmarks a little rubbed but still legible.
