Lot Description
A George III silver pedestal cream jug in Neo Classical style, punched and engraved with floral garlands and vacant cartouche within decorative borders, gilded interior, loop handle and circular foot with square base. Hallmarked Peter & Ann Bateman, London 1794. Height including handle measures 5 1/8 inches (13 cm), weight 2.54 ozt (79.2 grams).

Condition Report
The jug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There appear to be a couple of repairs to the rim as there are floods of solder visible and also some deeper scratches to one of the areas. Another likely repair or patched in area to the top corner of the cartouche. Some wear to the gilded interior, especially around the edges. Slight loss of detail to decoration in places. Hallmarks to the square base are slightly cut off and the top of the maker's mark is partly distorted. However, the marks are all still legible.
