Lot Description
A nineteenth century pair of steel scissor form 'guillotine' candle snuffers with patent 'lever without springs' action, the chamber and handle decorated in relief with foliate scroll motifs. Together with five other similar patent steel pairs, plainer in design. Longest measures 7 3/4 inches (19.5 cm). (6).

Condition Report
Varied condition, however all display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. They are all quite tarnished and rust is visible to some. Some rounding of edges and pointed tips. Some display patches of bubbling of flaking of the metal. One pair is in poorer condition as the feet are missing and the 'guillotine' action does not appear to be working properly. All the other pairs appear to be working in some form.
