Condition Report
Both boxes display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier tarnishing is visible, especially to the slightly later box. Numerous deeper scratches and nicks are visible to both and several dints and bumps. Some of these are fairly large. The mount is lifting slightly on the earlier example and splits are starting to appear in the metal on one of the corners. Slight rubbing to the maker's mark, but the hallmarks are clear and legible. The other box does not close tightly, leaving a large gap visible to the front. The mount is also lifting slightly in places. Some of the hallmarks are quite rubbed and distorted on this box.
