Lot 27

Lot Description

A George III silver cream jug of bulbous oval form, engraved decoration below a reeded rim and with reeded flat top handle, hallmarked London 1805, maker's mark indistinct. Together with a Victorian silver christening mug of plain tapering outline, hallmarked James Deakin & Sons, London 1888, and a pair of Victorian silver Fiddle pattern sugar tongs with engraved crest, hallmarked Robert Wallis, London 1843. Combined weight 8.55 ozt (266 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All three items display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  The cream jug and mug are in fairly poor condition, heavy tarnishing is visible and both would benefit from a clean and polish.  Both also display some surface dints and bumps, especially the mug, which displays several larger dints and also a fairly large patched in area.  Personal engraving to the underside of the mug.  Hallmarks on the mug are rubbed but still legible.  Hallmarks on the cream jug are rubbed but legible, however the maker's mark is indistinct.  The hallmarks on the sugar tongs are clear and legible.
