A Victorian large silver plated oak cased four tier Fiddle and Thread pattern canteen originally for eighteen place settings, comprising seventeen dinner forks, seventeen side forks, plate holder, four salt spoons, five egg spoons, nineteen dessert spoons, twenty-two teaspoons, four knife rests, eighteen tablespoons, pair of sauce ladles, pair of nut crackers, sugar sifter, soup ladle and basting spoon. One tier also includes ivory handled tea knives, seventeen, and forks, fifteen, with cheese scoop. The Fiddle pattern flatware and accessories are crested and the majority by Joseph Gilbert, Birmingham.

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some variance to the pieces. Obvious wear to the plating in some areas. The canteen has clearly seen some usage with fair wear to the prongs, blades and bowls. Original pickle fork missing. Butter knife missing.
Basting spoon, egg spoons and some of the accessories are by different makers. The basting spoon does not fit in the fitted space. Noticeable cracks and discolouration to the ivory handles. Case missing key.
