A George III silver swing handled bread basket.

Lot Description
A George III silver swing handled bread basket of oval form, chased and embossed with a wide border of trailing flowers, foliage and scrolls, within an outer rim of similar decorative motifs, the handle decorated with acanthus leaves and the whole raised above an oval footed base. Hallmarked William Fountain, London 1804. Maximum length measures 12 inches (30.5 cm), weight 22 ozt (686.7 grams).

Condition Report
The basket displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Various minor nicks and deeper scratches are visible, especially to the interior centre of the dish. There is a circular patched in area to one end, solder lines are visible. The decoration still appears fairly crisp with only slight loss of detail. Maker's mark is very rubbed but just legible. The other hallmarks are clear and legible.
