Lot Description

A continental white metal mounted icon of St. George slaying the dragon, the oblong panel with repoussé decoration and printed face beneath Cyrillic inscription, on wooden backing. The edge stamped 900 plus other indistinct marks. Height measuring 8 inches (20 cm).

The item displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  The metal mount is quite heavily tarnished.  It is lifting slightly around the edge and there are some splits/creases in the metal.  Some slight loss of surface detail and definition to the relief decoration.  Stamped 900 in several places, on the front and around the sides.  Other marks are indistinct.  Numerous deep scratches and gouges to the wooden back.
